I recently got out for a quick hunt at a local circa 1743 house that I’ve detected countless times over the last year. I have a nice relationship with the owners and they have afforded me an endless welcome mat to return whenever I’d like. Having scoured this property very thoroughly (with many nice colonial finds to show for it), the signals are very few and far between. Thus, I am now left with only very deep, iffy-at-best signals, which I dig on the off-chance that they are good targets being masked as bad targets due to their sheer depth. Most of the time, as expected, these end up being deep nails or other unidentifiable iron, but recently I was pleasantly surprised to dig a very nice colonial cufflink with a ship motif. It’s finds like these that beckon me back to the property despite the increasing diminished returns. So, stay tuned for more because I’m not giving up on this property just yet!
